COMMON NAMES: Marsh Parsley, Slender Celery

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Taretare Rerevao (MG), Taretare Tītā (AT MK MT AK)

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE tropical America

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; Land, lowlands, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: ; Weed - minor

KEY FEATURES: Erect annual herb to 70cm. LEAVES alternate, pinnately divided 2-3x, into fine filaments (to 10x1mm). FLOWERS white, very small 1mmØ; each on a short stalk clustered on a stalk opposite a leaf. FRUIT round to oval, 2mmØ.

NEGATIVE SIGNIFICANCE: Weed - minor. Comments: A mild weed in gardens, hence the name Taretare-tītā, literally "rubbish-Fennel".
