SIGNIFICANCE NOTES -. Comment: NBSAP - Te Au-o-Tonga (4 of 4 domestic)
POSITIVE SIGNIFICANCE: Food (Fruit 1+). Comments: MATERIAL: Timber like Breadfruit [A. altilis] but harder.
GENERAL NOTE: W.W.Gill (1885:179) mentioned that jack-fruit had been introduced into the Eastern Polynesia from Samoa. He noted it as native in Samoa and the Western Pacific and Indian Archipelago. The species was not recorded by Cheeseman (1903), but was in Wilder (1931) without a note on its origin.
