General Information

COMMON NAMES: Rough Lemon, Jamberi, Citronelle.; German [Citrus spp.=] Zitrusgewachse, Agrumen

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Rēmene Māori (RR MG AT AK), Rēmene Pukupuku (MK), Rēmene ‘Enua / Rēmene Māori (MT)

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE n.India

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Medicine, Agriculture; Injurous spines - moderate

KEY FEATURES: Small tree with thorns to about 2.5cm. LEAVES oval. FLOWERS small; white, purple-tinged; fragrant. FRUIT oval; rough to bumpy surface, broad terminal nipple surrounded by an irregular furrow; flesh segments about 10; axis large, hollow.
