COMMON NAMES: Calabash Tree, Gourd Tree; German Kalebassenbaum

TRADITIONAL NAMES: ‘Ue / Kumete (RR); COMMENT: Wilder (1920s) recorded name as Kumete.

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE tropical America

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; S.Group (RR only - rare); Land, lowlands, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental flowers, Material (Container)

KEY FEATURES: Tree to 12m LF _____, PET lacking; BL obovate, to 26x8cm. FL on old wood, corolla 7cm long 4cmØ, dull white to brownish-green; FT to 30cmØ, green to brownish; SEEDS 8x6mm
