General Information

COMMON NAMES: Indiarubber Vine

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Madagascar

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental flowers

KEY FEATURES: Shrub to 2m (unsupported) or vine to 15m. SAP white. LEAVES opposite, to 10x5xm, above glossy dark green with yellow midrib, below pale green, without hairs, leathery; stalk 1cm. FLOWERS 7cmØ, corolla cup-like with 5 large rounded petals, pale pinkish-purple; calyx leaf-like to 10mm. FRUIT paired, 'fused' at base, lance-like with 3 sharp angles, 10x3cm.
