COMMON NAMES: False Heather, Elfin Herb

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Mexico - Guatemala

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental flowers

KEY FEATURES: A small densely-banching shrub to 60cm with small pale purple flowers. STEM hairy. LEAVES opposite, narrow-oval, 3x0.5cm, dark green, glossy, edge ~smooth; petiole 1mm. FLOWERS axillary, ~ascending; calyx tube green, 5mm; petals, 6, crumpled, pale purple to white, 5mm. TotalØ 12mm.
