COMMON NAMES: Rough-leaf Shrub

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Melanesia - Societies (species)

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Land, mountains (+++)

KEY FEATURES: Small, slender-branched shrub to 2m. BRANCHES with clusters of small fruits at the nodes. LEAVES terminal clusters, opposite, ovate, to 20x9cm, asymetrical, surface very rough, edge densely toothed, tip sharp, base round; underside furry, veins bulging; stalk to 5cm, round, furry. FLOWERS minute, in dense clusters in leaf-axils, FRUITS in dense cluster, stalked, oval, minute to 2mm long.
