General Information

COMMON NAMES: Narrow-leaf Dracaena, Narrow-leaf Pleomele

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Rautī (AT), Lautī (PK)

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE India - Australia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental leaves

KEY FEATURES: Slender shrub, to 5m, with few ascending branches and terminal clusters of long slender leaves. LEAVES terminal clusters, spirally arranged, long, slender and tappering to a sharp tip, to XXxXXcm, uniform green ('Honoriae' has narrow cream margins). FLOWERS on spike 25cm, in groups of 4 along the spike; each with 1cm stalk, XXXXXXX. FRUIT round, to 2cmØ, ripen orange; flesh thin orange; seed one, large (12mmØ), translucent cream.
