Episcia cupreata (Hook.)
SYNONYMS: Achimenes cupreata [O]
TAXONOMY: PLANTAE; ANTHOPHYTA (=Angiospermae); MAGNOLIOPSIDA (=Dicotyledones); ASTERIDAE; Scrophulariales; GESNERIACEAE
IDENTIFICATION: Creeping hairy perennial. STOLONS to 50cm, hairy. LEAVES clustered, opposite, succulent, oval, to 10x7cm, green with silver blotching along midrib and veins; teeth rounded. FLOWERS in axils, 2-4 on long hairy stalk, red; corolla a tube and a flat face (2cmØ) with 5 rounded lobes; stamens 4-5 with anthers, hidden within tube; style with 2 lobes at tip. Several cvs and hybrids.
