General Information

COMMON NAMES: River Red-Gum, Murray Red-Gum, Swamp Mahogany; German Eucalyptusbaume

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Australia (arid and semiarid areas)

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands - mountains (+)

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Forestry, post/rail

KEY FEATURES: Tall evergreen to 45m. BARK smooth, white, grey or brown. ADULT LEAVES alternate, narrow lance-like, to 25x2cm, usually sickle-shaped, dull green top and below; stalk 1cm. FLOWERS clusters in axils, 5-10. FRUIT (=capsules) clustered, hemiglobose or ovoid, 8x8mm, light brown, 3-4 triangular teeth to 2mm.
