General Information

COMMON NAMES: Silver-dollar Gum, Spiral Eucalyptus, Argyle apple; German Eucalyptusbaume

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Australia (NSW & Vic)

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental leaves

KEY FEATURES: Evergreen tree to 15m. BARK fibrous, reddish-brown, smooth. ADULT LEAVES alternate, wide lance-like, to 12x3cm, dark above and pale below; stalk flat, 1cm. PRE-ADULT LEAVES (on adult trees) opposite, round to heart-shaped, stalkless. FLOWERS axil clusters of 3. FRUIT hemispherical, 8x9mm.
