General Information

COMMON NAMES: Mindanao Gum, Philippine Gum, Bagras Eucalyptus, Kamarere; German Eucalyptusbaume

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Philippines - New Guinea

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Forestry, post/rail

KEY FEATURES: Tall evergreen tree to 50m. YOUNG STEM square, 4-winged. BARK outer layer shed, inner layer smooth and multi-coloured - green, yellow, red, orange, brown and purple. ADULT LEAVES opposite, dark above, pale below, ovate, to 20x10, base round, tip sharp, edge smooth; stalk 1cm. FLOWERS axil and terminal clusters of 3-7. FRUITS hemispherical to subglobous, 5x5mm.
