Gloriosa superba Linnaeus
TAXONOMY: PLANTAE; ANTHOPHYTA (=Angiospermae); LILIOPSIDA (=Monocotyledones); LILIIDAE; Liliales; LILIACEAE
GENERAL NOTE: All parts of the plant contain the narcotic poison (superbine) and other poisons, such as colchicine, which can cause violent purging and death. (Arnold 1968)
