General Information

COMMON NAMES: Tanglehead Grass, Twisted Beard-grass, Spear Grass

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Asia - ?Pacific

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; S.Group only (Ma‘uke only); Land, lowlands

KEY FEATURES: Tufts to 1m, leaves 10-30cmx6mm, narrow crowded flower inflorescence/spike to 7cm. Each fertile spikelet has a red-brown bristle to 10cm with two bends.
