General Information

COMMON NAMES: Polynesian Humata Fern

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; S.Group - common (RR, MG - only); N.Group - absent; Land, lowlands - mountains (++++); on trees

KEY FEATURES: Small, epiphytic fern, with fronds to 15cm. LEAFLETS ladderlike, without stalks; most undivided, edges w/wo low rounded lobes; basal leaflets w large lobes. SORI covered, near edge, along entire leaflet.

IDENTIFICATION: Small, epiphytic fern, to 15cm. ROOT slender, with fronds well-spaced. FRONDS flat and triangular, to 15cm long; LEAFLETS ladderlike without a stalk; undivided, except basal ones which have lobes. SORI on all leaflets of fertile frond; underside in row along each edge; each covered by kidney-shaped indusium.
