General Information

COMMON NAMES: Inga / Ice-cream Bean, Ynga, Ice-cream Beans, Pacayer

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Kōkō (RR MG MT RK), Pākaiē (AT MK); COMMENT: Tahitian "Pakai", after French "Pacayer" (pronounced "pa-kai-er"), from Peruvian "Pacay" (pronounced "pa-kai") for a closely related tree with an esteemed edible fruit.

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE S.America

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands - mountains (+)
