COMMON NAMES: Giant Red Ixora, Ever-blooming Ixora

TRADITIONAL NAMES: ‘Ātitōrā / Estōrā (RR), ‘Ātitōrā (MK MT AK), Esetola (TS), Esetora (TW); Other Polynesian - Suni (SAM)

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Caroline Islands of Micronesia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental flowers

KEY FEATURES: Open shrub to 3m. LEAVES opposite, oval, to 25x10cm, tapering both ends, semi-glossy; stalk 0.5cm. FLOWERS large clusters; corolla tube slender, 4cm, red (rarely pale orange); lobes 4, red, tip sharp, 15mm; face 4cmØ.
