COMMON NAMES: White Shrimp-Plant, Squirrel's Tail

TRADITIONAL NAMES: ‘Uru Manu^ (AT), Moamoa (MK), ‘Uru Manu (MT)

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - India

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental flowers

KEY FEATURES: A weak-stemmed shrub to 2m, with attractive flower bracts. LEAVES opposite, oval, pointed at both ends, 10cm. FLOWERS: on terminal spikes, overlapping bracts, to 3cm, white with green veins, corolla beak-like, white and lilac.
