General Information

COMMON NAMES: One-leaf Orchid

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Southern Polynesia (Samoa - Rarotonga - Australs - Societies)

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native, Endemic of Polynesia, Extripated in Cooks; S.Group - Rarotonga only - very rare or extinct; Land, mountains (X?) (on ridges)

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: ; Nationally endangered (seriously)

KEY FEATURES: A small ground orchid, each pseudobulb with a single leaf. Leaf heart-shaped, tip sharp, 6x5cm. Flower-stalk, terminal or lateral, erect, to 15cm, many-flowered. Flowers 1cm diameter. Fruit-capsules ovoid.
