GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE s.USA - Peru

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; Land, lowlands

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Manure/Cover; Weed - minor

SIMILAR SPECIES: Macroptilium lathyroides differs in having leaflets lacking lobes, pods which twist on opening, 18-30 seeds per pod, and also paler purple-red flowers.
