COMMON NAMES: Polynesian Melicope

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Southeast Polynesia (Cooks, Raivavae, Societies)

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native, Endemic of se.Polynesia; Land, mountains (+)

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: ; Nationally endangered (moderately)

KEY FEATURES: Small tree to 5m. LEAVES in terminal clusters, dark green, opposite, elliptic to wide-elliptic, to 16x12cm, edge entire, base round (to obtuse), tip round and notched (to obtuse); stalk 3cm. INFLOR. open branched cluster. FLOWER very small, 6mmØ; petals 4, triangular, 2mm long, white; stamens 4. FRUIT thin-walled, 2-valves, 8x5mm. SEEDS 1(-2), black.
