COMMON NAMES: Strap-leaf Fern

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Tahiti

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental fern

KEY FEATURES: An erect, single-bladed fern to 60cm. BLADE simple and straplike (sometimes 2-3 lobed), with scattered sori on underside.

GENERAL NOTE: This common hydrid fern probably developed in Tahiti where both the parents are present. In the Cook Islands one parent is native (Phymatosorus grossus), and the other Microsorum punctatum is introduced.
