COMMON NAMES: Ornamental Banana; German Bananen

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE ne.India

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental flowers

KEY FEATURES: A small banana plant, with a stem to 1.5m. The inflorescence is erect. The bracts are magenta to purple with purple hairs. The fruit is pink, hairy, to 10cm long, with black seeds.
