TAXONOMY: PLANTAE; ANTHOPHYTA (=Angiospermae); MAGNOLIOPSIDA (=Dicotyledones); ASTERIDAE; Solanales; SOLANACEAE
GENERAL NOTE: Formerly, occasionally cultivated to make tobacco. The toxic alkoloid, nicotine, can cause vomiting, diarrhea, irregular pulse and, in extreme cases, death. (Arnold 1968)
