Scientific Taxonomy

Ophioglossum nudicaule L.
TAXONOMY: PLANTAE; PTERIDOPHYTA (=Pterophyta); Ophioglossales; OPHIOGLOSSACEAE. COMMENT: Note on phylum name: PTERIDOPHYTA from Greek "pteris" meaning "fern"; Pterophyta seems mistaken because Greek "pteros" means "wing".
