General Information

COMMON NAMES: Ribbon Fern

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Madagascar - Indonesia/Queensland - Marquesas

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Land, mountains (++)

KEY FEATURES: An epiphytic with arching or hanging, ribbon-like frond, to 1m. FROND-BLADE (=Trophophore) ribbon-like, to 100x5cm, sometimes forming 2-ribbons near tip; bright glossy green, wavy edges; FROND-SPIKE (=Sporophore) near base of frond, stalk to 5cm, fertile section to 150x8mm, with sporangia (=spore capsules) along the two edges.
