General Information

COMMON NAMES: Variegated Mondo-grass, Variegated Lilyturf, Mondo Grass, Lily Turf

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Japan.

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental leaves

KEY FEATURES: Grass-like tufted herb, to 60cm. Variegated form: LEAVES many, arching; linear, widest centrally; tip sharp; bluish-green with cream edges & stripes; to 60x1cm. FLOWERS in clusters along a stalk ~30cm; small 5mmL, white, drooping; 6 petals overlapping. FRUIT oval to 7x4mm; green and cream or blue.
