General Information

COMMON NAMES: Guinea Grass, Green Panic, Buffalograss; French Capime Guiné

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Tinikarāti (RR AK), Tinikarati (MG MK), Tine (AT); COMMENT: Aitutaki - tini means many, tīni is a tanliteration of Dean. Opinion indicaates that Dean did not introduced this grass, and tini means many (11/2000GMcC).

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE tropical Africa; EXOTIC EXOTIC cicumtropical, incl. PNG - French Polynesia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent (pre-1899), Naturalised; S.Group only - widespread and very common; Land, lowlands - inland valleys

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: ; Weed - moderate
