COMMON NAMES: Hairy Peperomia

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Pikimato (RR MG AT MK MT AK)

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE ne.Australia - Micronesia - Melanesia - Pitcairn

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; S.Group (RR - lowland-montane; makatea islands - very common); Land, lowlands - mountains (++++)

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Medicine

KEY FEATURES: A small erect fleshy herb to 50cm. Dark green, dull, with notable hairs on whole leaf. FLOWER stalk slender and long.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Peperomia X abscondita leaves semi-glossy (vs not glossy) and hairs minute (vs. hairs obvious).
