General Information

COMMON NAMES: Plumbago, Cape Leadwort; German Bleiwurz

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE s.Africa

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental flowers

KEY FEATURES: A shrub with long furrowed stems, semi-climbing, with clusters of blue flowers. LEAVES oval, to 5cm, without teeth, with short petiole. FLOWERS terminal clusters; blue 25mmØ; corolla tube narrow 25mm; lobes 5, broadest towards tip, 12mm long. Cultivar 'Alba' has white flowers.
