TAXONOMY: PLANTAE; ANTHOPHYTA (=Angiospermae); MAGNOLIOPSIDA (=Dicotyledones); ASTERIDAE; Lamiales; LAMIACEAE
GENERAL NOTE: An essential oil is extracted from the shoots - used as a fixative for heavy perfumes, used in sopas, hair tonics and tobacco, and gives characteristic odour to cashmere shawls and carpets [Pursglove 1968]. Plant also used as a condiment or potherb; and in Fiji used to scent coconut oil [AC.Smith].
