General Information

COMMON NAMES: Arrowhead, Duck Potato

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE s.Asia - Indonesia (our subspecies)

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; Freshwater, wetlands - ponds

KEY FEATURES: Erect herb to 1m. ROOT small yellow tuber (edible). LEAVES ribbonlike (submerged), oval (floating) and arrowlike with long basal lobes (erect above the water), the latter to 25x20cm, stalk 80cm. FLOWERS on 1m stalk; unisexual; petals white and anthers yellow; 2.5cmØ.
