General Information

COMMON NAMES: Snow Flower, Spathe Flower, Peace Lily; German Scheidenblatt

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Colombia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental flowers

KEY FEATURES: Stemless herb to 40cm. LEAVES basal; blade oval, to 20x8cm, velvety dark green; stalk to 15cm. FLOWER spathe white or green, spoon-like, to 8x3cm, base clasping stalk; spike (=spadix) rather smooth to 5cmL; stalk to 25cm. Cvs. 'Mauna Loa' compact, leaves deep green; 'Mauna Loa Supreme' leaves deep green, tall and upright.
