General Information

COMMON NAMES: Yellow Bells, Yellow Trumpet-tree, Yellow Elder, Ginger-thomas; German Gelbblühender Trompetenbaum

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Tekoma (MK)

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Caribbean

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; Land, lowlands

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental flowers

KEY FEATURES: Shrub or small tree to 10m. LEAVES compound to 20cm, pinnate; LFTS 5-12, lance-like 12x3cm, base tapering, tip sharp, edge toothed. INFLOR terminal. FLOWER funnel-like, corolla bright yellow, 5cm long, throat with reddish lines. FRUIT capsule slender, to 20x1cm. A variable species.
