General Information

COMMON NAMES: White Thunbergia, Sweet Clockvine

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE India - Sri Lanka

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; Land, lowlands - inland valleys

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental flowers

KEY FEATURES: A low-climbing vine, with white (or blue) flowers. LEAVES opposite, oval to triangular, 8cm, stalk not winged; FLOWERS solitary, odourless, white, narrow 3cm tube flares into 5 rounded lobes; 5cmØ White-flowered varieties of Thunbergia alata have winged leaf-stalks.
