COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; S.Group only (MG only - very rare0; Land, Valleys

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: ; Nationally endangered (seriously)

KEY FEATURES: Tree to 10m with widespreading branches. Wood hard. LEAVES alternate, to 14x6cm, heart-shaped, tapering to a long sharp tip; edge many small teeth; glossy dark green above; stalk 1cm. FLOWERS small, in stalked axial clusters; unisexed flowers. FRUIT compressed, 4mm long, ripen black.

SIGNIFICANCE NOTES -
BIODIVERSITY: Nationally endangered (seriously). Comment: Known from one collection in a valley on Rangimotia on Mangaia.

GENERAL NOTE: Known within Cooks from a extreme inland valley forest remnant on Mangaia, east of Rangimotia at c.450ft.
