General Information

COMMON NAMES: Serrate Filmy-fern

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; S.Group - Rarotonga (common) & Mangaia (very rare); Land, mountains (++++)

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: ; Endangered on Mangaia

KEY FEATURES: A tufted ground fern to 30cm. Frond-stalk without hairs or wings. Frond-midrib 2-times divided. Leaflets (=pinnules) with obvious teeth.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Winged Filmy-fern (Trichomanes maximum) has frond-stalk winged (vs. wingless); fronds divided 3-times (vs. 2-times); pinnules without teeth (vs. toothed).
