GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Columbia - Peru

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental flowers

KEY FEATURES: Erect herb to 1m. STEM green with red marks. LEAVES opposite, heart-shaped, to 20x20cm, teeth small and rounded, edge red. FLOWERS bell-like, 5cmØ, pale purple with dark purple inside-base, hairy outside, 5 lobes.

IDENTIFICATION: Herb to 1m. Stem green marked red. LEAVES heart-shaped, 20x18cm, round teeth, dark above, pale below, red edged; stalk red, 11cm. FLOWERS pale purple, bell-like, hairy outside, 5 round lobes, 5cmØ, dark purple within bell-base.
