General Information

COMMON NAMES: Wikstroemia

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Fiji - Fr.Polynesia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; S.Group only (Rarotonga only - montane); Land, mountains (++), mid- to upper-elevations

KEY FEATURES: A bushy shrub, to 3m. LEAVES terminal clusters, opposite, adjacent pairs at right angles (=decussate), oval, to 7x3cm, dark green with a white wax, base round, tip obtuse to round, edge smooth; stalk to 2mm. FLOWERS 6-10 in terminal cluster; corolla tube, green, 8x2mm(LxØ); petals 9mmØ, yellowish-green, 4, spreading. FRUIT ovoid, 12x8mm(LxØ), ripen red.
