General Information

COMMON NAMES: Blotched Philodendron

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Ecuador

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; S.Group only (Rarotonga only); Land, lowlands, gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental leaves

KEY FEATURES: Large-leaved herb to 1m. LEAVES large (85x50cm), heart-shaped, dark green with grey-green blotches; leaf-stalk to 1m, oval, green with fine broken cream stripes, crimped wing (~2mm high), basal groove very short (15cm, ~13%). FLOWER stalk to 20cm; lower spathe green to 10cm; upper spathe cream to 12cm. [from Rarotonga specimen, GMcC]
