General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Indian Ocean - Societies

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore, SW

KEY FEATURES: A relatively large snapping shrimp, to 65mm TL.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Very similar to Alpheus pacificus also in "Edwardsi Group". Present species separated from all of group by balaeniceps-like finger of the small nipper (chela) - whatever balaeniceps means!
