General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE w.Pacific - n.Cooks - Tuamotu - Hawai‘i

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore

KEY FEATURES: Carapace 5x8mm, but known to 20mm wide. A small crab. Carapace generally smooth. Anterolateral border has 4 small equal teeth, the last two with acute tips. Chelipeds generally smooth; fingers black. Walking legs hairy with a few long bristles. [mainly after Edmondson 1962]

SIMILAR SPECIES: Very similar to Chlorodiella cytherea, often thought to be one species. Separated by experts by shape of anterolateral teeth against age, and shape of first pleopod of the male.
