GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Indonesia - n.Cooks - Tuamotu

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Land, breed in ocean

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: ???

KEY FEATURES: A large purplish hermit typically living in turban shells (Turbo spp.). The large uniformly purple cheliped has a smooth surface, and there is a brush of hairs on inner surface of the right palm only. The eye-stalls are almost cylindrical.
