General Information

COMMON NAMES: Yellow Pacific Cone

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Japan - Fr.Polynesia - Hawai‘i

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornament

KEY FEATURES: To 60mm long. Heavy, dull yellowish to tan, narrow sharp-edged white midbody band and distinct white shoulder band; shoulder and spire uniformly whitish; anterior end dark purple. Mouth purple with pale areas in middle and under shoulder. Spire low to flat, whorls have 3-4 very weak spiral ridges; shoulder roundly angled without coronations. Anterior half of ody whorl with widely spaced, granulose spiral ridges with axial threads between.
