General Information

COMMON NAMES: Cucumber Moth, Cucumber Leaf-roller

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; S.Group (RR, ?+); Land, horticultural; caterpillar on cucurbits, especially cucumbers

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: ; Pest on cucurbits

KEY FEATURES: Small moth, 25mmWS, 13mmBL. HEAD dark brown. THORAX dark brown; WINGS translucent and white with wide brown margin. ABDOMEN white with a wide dark band near tip. MALE abdomen-tip has conspicuous orange tufts (=coremata) to release mating-chemical (=pheromones) [present in Pyralidae and Crambidae]. LARVA to 15mm, green with 2 dorsolateral stripes.
