Dromidia No.141 Gustav
TAXONOMY: ANIMALIA; ARTHROPODA; CRUSTACEA; MALACOSTRACA; EUMALACOSTRACA; Eucarida; Decapoda; Reptantia; Brachyura; Dromiacea; DROMIIDAE
GENERAL NOTE: The cap of teh sponge crab is usually a piece of self-cut sponge held in place by the two small, nippered hind legs which are directed vertically. They become quite "disturbed" if their cap is removed, and work vigorously to shape a new one. They lie on their back to manipulate the new cap into position with their legs, and after a series of manipulations they roll upright with it in place on the back.
