General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Tuamotu - Hawai‘i

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore

KEY FEATURES: Gp.01 Unattached, oval (1:±2) fungiid coral, to 15cm long. with a single central mouth. Septa have small teeth (30-40/cm), with a few conspicuous lobes, which support tentacles in the live coral. Costa relatively equal with small spines.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Fungia paumotensis differs in lacking the lobes on the septa.
