General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Gambier Islands

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore

KEY FEATURES: Gp.9 A massive rounded or columnar coral. Valleys very short or polygonal, 2-5mm wide, with 1 to 4 distinct calice centres connected by septa. Septa around each calice often about 50. Septal margins smooth or granular. Columella is a small pinnacle. Walls high and prominent without a midline -MEANING? Pale to dark borwn, sometimes purplish.
