General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - n.Cooks - Hawai‘i - w.Atlantic

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Land, coastal, breed in the sea

KEY FEATURES: Carapace 26x30mm (LxW). Colour is red or yellowish-red. Carapace is flat and widest in the posterior half; fine transverse lines (striae) conspicuous only on the lateral parts; front less than half the maximum width. Chelipeds slightly unequal in size; hand and moveable finger have tubercules on upper surface; fingers pointed and not spooned. Outer segments of walking legs have long bristles. Distinct tuft of hairs between bases of walking legs 2 and 3.
