Leptoria phrygia (Ellis & Solander, 1786)
SYNONYMS: Leptoria gracilis; Leptoria tenuis; Platygyra phrygia
TAXONOMY: ANIMALIA; CNIDARIA (=Coelenterates); ANTHOZOA; ZOANTHARIA (=Hexacorallia); Scleractinia (=Madreporaria); FAVIIDAE
IDENTIFICATION: COLONY hemispherical, up to 1mØ, having a gentle undulating surface. Brown or green brain-coral. SEPTA of neighbouring deep valleys join up forming walls of constant width. Distances between septa constant. Septa finely toothed with granulated sides. COLUMELLA does not form centres but is a continuous series of thin, long plates with wide lobes on upper edge. REPRODUCTION ????
